We wrote this song back in 2014 but took a long time to get it to where it felt good. We recorded it with Nick at Rusty Sun Audio while recording Second Breakfast but it didn't feel right to add to that record. So, here it is.

Last night I painted a picture, wasn't worth a thousand words
A few were all that I could manage and I swear it was the best and all that I could do
I tried to look for a meaning cryptic and hidden away
But in the end all that I could see was an angry face staring right back at me

These clouded winter skies are lit with a life of their own
They make me want to sleep and drive with one eye open
My heart is racing faster as we make our way home
Just show me a smile so I know I'll see you tomorrow

I tried to destroy all the evidence, burnt it all and threw it away
Thinking that it would be easy to deny everything and say that nothing was ever there
But every time I tried to come up for air I saw it there looming over me
Staring me down and I knew that everything I thought was wrong, everything I knew was gone

Staring at the stars that wouldn't shine only one thing on my mind
If I could make it back somehow I'd have some piece of mind
But for now I guess I'll just have to keep on breathing
